Shop Donations at Lifeline Mid Coast

Donate Quality. Save Lives.

Thoughtful Donations Make a Lifesaving Difference

When you donate good‑quality items to Lifeline Shops, you’re doing more than clearing out your cupboards — you’re helping fund essential suicide prevention and crisis support services in our community.

Every sale from our shops helps Lifeline provide support to people experiencing their darkest moments. Your generosity directly contributes to keeping these services available, accessible, and free to those who need them most.

Why Quality Matters

Lifeline Shops rely on the sale of donated items. We do not have facilities to wash, repair, or restore damaged goods.

This means:

  • What comes in, goes out — directly to the shop floor.
  • Items that are broken, stained, mouldy, incomplete, or not in saleable condition unfortunately become waste, which costs money to dispose of.
  • These costs reduce the funds available for suicide prevention services.

By donating items that are clean, safe, and in good working condition, you help us maximise every dollar for the people who need help the most.

What to Donate

We gratefully accept items that are:

  • Clean, odour‑free, and in good condition
  • Something you’d proudly give to a friend
  • Complete (no missing parts or pieces)
  • Safe, working, and ready for resale

Popular items we love:

Quality clothing, shoes, and accessories

Homewares and décor

Books, toys, games, and puzzles

Small working household items

Good‑condition furniture (where accepted)

If you’re unsure whether an item is suitable, a simple test helps:

👉 Would I give this to a friend?

If the answer is yes — we’d love to receive it.

What We Cannot Accept

There are some items we’re unable to take for safety, quality, or regulatory reasons. These include:

Items that are torn, stained, mouldy, or damaged

Broken or incomplete items

Electronics that don’t work, have frayed cords, or are unsafe

Furniture that is stained, unstable, or does not meet safety standards

Items that require cleaning, washing, or repair

If an item isn’t suitable for donation, your local council may have recycling options to prevent it from going to landfill.

Myths vs Facts

Myth: Lifeline washes or repairs donated items.
Fact: We do not have washing or repair facilities. Items must be clean and ready for sale.

Myth: Lifeline gives donated clothing directly to people in need.
Fact: Lifeline Shops exist to raise funds for suicide prevention services by selling donated goods.

Myth: “Staff can fix it.”
Fact: Damaged items increase waste costs and reduce the funds available for services.
